Academy selection officially begins at the age of 9 years old, with an annual player review at the end of each season until under 12’s (some clubs may have a pre-academy, to prepare younger players for Academy life). Under 17 – Under 21’s This stage is when a player is prepared for a professional career in football. From age 17 players start to train every day. Players have breakfast and then training start around 9 am.Most days consist of a morning training session before lunch, and then lessons in the afternoon.
