Luka Modrić is ready to reduce his salary in order to renew with Real Madrid for one more year.

Unlike other Legends in Madrid’s recent history, Luka Modric will be able to say that he will end his career, at least his career in an elite club, hanging up his boots at the white club.

The Croatian footballer, who will turn 37 in September 2022, is close to renewing one more season at real Madrid, as happened last year in which he extended his contract for 12 months.

Just as Sergio Ramos did not want to follow this common practice of Madrid by moving to PSG, with the player over 33 years old, Modric has not cared at all about negotiating his renewal year after year, and the real Madrid board is delighted with his attitude and commitment, but above all with his sporting performance. If nothing goes wrong, Luka will continue to wear white in the 22-23 season, thus fulfilling a triple dream.

Next season will be the opening of the new Santiago Bernabéu stadium, the World Cup in winter, and, surely, the last of Modric in the elite.

With the tournament in Qatar, he will close a success story with his country, which he led to be the runner-up of the World in 2018, and with the white club, he will add his eleventh season, something that not many players can boast.

For Modric, qualifying for Qatar 2022 means fueling one more season of his desire to continue competing at the highest level.

The stimulus of playing a World Cup goes hand in hand with continuing to be important in club football, and its performance on the green proves it.

One more course, he leaves in anecdote his age and becomes a starting and key footballer in the white schemamma. This was the case with Zidane and now also with Ancelotti.

Madrid, on the other hand, is happy to have him. He knows that at 36 years old playing in white is not easy.

Few footballers throughout their history have done so, but in the case of Modric, there is no doubt as to his quality and, either, in terms of his worth whatever his ID says.

Luka, in addition, has never put a problem when negotiating his payroll to the point of lowering the tab if the club has asked him to do so, economically punished these last two years by the pandemic.

Another gesture that Madrid values and that adds up so that Modric, if nothing strange happens, signs his renewal until June 30, 2023.
