Tottenham Set To Appoint Antonio Conte

As a result of Spurs’ 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester United, the club are already looking for a new manager.

Nuno replaced Jose Mourinho permanently in June, when Spurs offered him a two-year contract.

After suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United in their opening game of the season, the north London club has ended the agreement early. The defeat leaves them 10 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Several Spurs staff members have been relieved of their duties, including Nuno, along with Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias.

“I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed, and I regret having to make the decision,” said Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici.

Tottenham have won 9, drawn 1 and lost 7 games under Nuno, who led the club across all competitions for just 17 games.

Besides United, he had four defeats in the Premier League – Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham.

“Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”

With Nuno at the helm, Spurs have also had the second-worst shot and chance creation totals in the Premier League this season. Nuno also holds the unattractive record of the most three-goal defeats in any league this year.

what’s next for Tottenham

Several candidates were considered by Tottenham before Nuno was appointed, including Gennaro Gattuso, Paulo Fonseca, and Antonio Conte, who worked for Chelsea previously in England before joining Inter.

There have already been reports that Spurs are in contact with Conte again, with Paratici eager to bring in his compatriot to steady the ship after working with him at Juventus.

After holding positive talks with the north London club, Goal can confirm that Conte will succeed Nuno and flew into England for further talks on Monday ahead of their Premier League match against Everton.
